Morgan Hill Downtown Placemaking Project

The purpose of this project was to revitalize two key areas of the City’s downtown public spaces. One segment of this project includes six contiguous blocks of streetscape improvements. The second piece of this project is a beautiful pedestrian plaza on 3rd Street.

EcoFolia Design prepared Construction Documentation, including probable costs, for this complex project. Adhering to the tight schedule, we turned the supplied conceptual design into a buildable project; working closely with the prime during design and into construction to provide the City with visually attractive, user friendly, custom plazas and streetscapes.

The project provides a variety of custom public amenities including benches, bollards and decorative fencing. The project offers texturally interesting yet low-maintenance paving, pedestrian lighting plus accent lighting, and carefully placed charging stations for public use. The existing trees in the medians were retained, a plant palette of California natives rejuvenated the landscape, all of this is now irrigated with updated, high efficiency irrigation components.

Sustainability was given upmost importance, which lead to the creative reuse of materials, adding to the uniqueness of place.
